These shea butter lotion sticks though have just 5.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll admit that I\u2019m a skin care product addict. Thankfully though I learned the benefits of natural products years ago and switched all of my toxic ingredients out for healthy ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since switching I still have dozens of <a href=\"https:\/\/wellnessmama.com\/beauty\/\">personal care products<\/a> in my bathroom but now they\u2019re packaged in glass jars. Instead of phthalates, parabens, and artificial fragrance you\u2019ll find ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, and honey. There are a lot of great natural skincare products on the market now, but I still enjoy making my own too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-benefits-of-shea-butter-lotion\">Benefits of Shea Butter Lotion <\/h2>\n<p>Lotion bars are some of my favorites and they\u2019re much easier to use than regular lotion. Especially when I had little kids who liked to get into everything! I started making them in repurposed plastic deodorant containers, which makes them even easier to apply. You can also use these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Empty-Cardboard-Deodorant-Containers-biodegradable\/dp\/B082ZRF67T?th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=wellnessmama-20&amp;linkId=cd141295c9079f9b352361c3ca606dc1&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">eco-friendly cardboard tubes.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the fall, I love using shea butter lotion. It naturally protects skin from dry, cool weather and some say it helps the skin naturally produce collagen. Research has also showed shea butter has natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. That means it\u2019s great for calming irritated skin and protecting it from free radical damage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A 2025 study showed that<a href=\"https:\/\/wellnessmama.com\/remedies\/shea-butter-benefits\/\"> shea butter<\/a> immediately and drastically increases skin hydration, prevents moisture loss, and improves skin barrier function. In many places, it\u2019s a revered remedy for keeping skin looking young and it really does make skin softer than a baby\u2019s bottom.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More Skin Protecting Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>Not only do these feature shea butter, but they also have a few other skin loving ingredients. <a href=\"https:\/\/wellnessmama.com\/beauty\/coconut-oil-lotion-recipes\/\">Coconut oil <\/a>provides MCT oil and a whole host of benefits that you\u2019ve probably heard me brag about before. Coconut oil helps repair the skin barrier, has mild anti-bacterial effects, reduces inflammation, is antioxidant, and helps skin age more gracefully. Then there\u2019s beeswax to help thicken and provide even more skin barrier protection to keep skin hydrated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I love adding in my favorite essential oils to make this an all-over skin nourishing remedy. You can use any skin safe oils you prefer, but I usually opt for a blend of chamomile, geranium, and sweet orange. Heat the ingredients over medium heat until melted, stirring ocassionally. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li id=\"wprm-recipe-496203-step-0-2\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<p><span style=\"display: block;\">Remove from heat and stir in the essential oils.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li id=\"wprm-recipe-496203-step-0-3\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<p><span style=\"display: block;\">Pour the mixture into the lotion bar tube.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li id=\"wprm-recipe-496203-step-0-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<p><span style=\"display: block;\">Let cool for several hours or overnight in the fridge. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"recipe-496203-notes\" class=\"wprm-recipe-notes-container wprm-block-text-normal\">\n<div class=\"wprm-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li>Cooling in the fridge speeds up the cooling time but it also helps the shea butter to stay smooth after cooling.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Keep in a cool, dry place for up to 2 years.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Use Shea Butter Lotion Bars<\/h3>\n<p>These shea butter lotion bars are great for dry, thirsty skin that needs extra hydration. It goes on silky smooth and I\u2019ll put it anywhere I need some more moisture. I don\u2019t use it on my face though since my face tends to have plenty of natural oils. However, I know many women who love to use shea butter on the face and this would be an easy way to apply it. Experiment and see what works for you.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notes On Shea Lotion Bar Sticks<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This recipe makes enough for one 2-ounce lotion bar tube.\u00a0Double or triple the recipe if desired to make more. <\/li>\n<li>For a firmer lotion bar stick, use more beeswax. For a smoother lotion bar stick, use less beeswax and more coconut oil or olive oil.<\/li>\n<li>Shea butter has a different melting point than other oils and butters so it can get grainy in skincare products. An easy way to fix this is to make sure they cool down in the fridge before using.
