Hi GPODers!<\/p>\n

When we were first introduced to Teresa Eutsler\u2019s garden in Whaleyville, Maryland (Zone 7b) she explained that this was the new garden her and her husband had built after moving away from a high-maintenance landscape in 2017 (Check out that post: July in Teresa\u2019s Maryland Garden<\/a>). Teresa originally planned for a simpler garden that would require less work, but with each new submission she sends in I\u2019m wondering if she has a different definition of \u201csimple\u201d than I do. Last month we saw some spectacular scenes from her spring garden (Teresa\u2019s Spring Garden in Maryland<\/a>), and today she is back to share the exciting color that has emerged since then. These photos are more examples of her designs being anything but simple, and the number of plants she grows from seed reveal that her passion and love for the \u201cwork\u201d she does in the garden is too strong to slow down now.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Rose standards, \u201cbig\u201d begonia<\/a> annuals, gaura<\/a>, yarrow<\/em> (<\/em>Achillea<\/a> millefolium,\u00a0Zones 3\u20139), and nepeta<\/a> in the foreground. Foxgloves<\/em> (<\/em>Digitalis<\/a> purpurea,\u00a0Zones 4\u20139), nepeta and gaura anchor the end of the bed.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"seed<\/a>Foxgloves, delphinium, gaura, and Madame Butterfly ivory snapdragons<\/em> (<\/em>Antirrhinum<\/a> majus \u2018Madame Butterfly Ivory\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0annual)<\/em> grown from seed with sedum in the foreground.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Cutting<\/a>Cutting garden behind the patio bed, with larkspur<\/a> (<\/em>Consolida ajacis,\u00a0annual)<\/em> and dahlias<\/a> putting on lots of growth. This area also has zinnias<\/a>, sunflowers, cosmos<\/a>, bachelor\u2019s buttons<\/em> (<\/em>Centaurea<\/a> cyanus,\u00a0annual)<\/em>, poppies growing on from seed for lots of bouquets.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"raised<\/a>These raised beds also grow flowers for cutting and vegetables. I have Potomac Lavender and Rose snapdragons<\/em> (<\/em>Antirrhinum<\/a> majus \u2018Potomac Lavender\u2019 and \u2018Potomac Cherry Rose\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0annual)<\/em> and Madame Butterfly Ivory snapdragons grown from seed, ranunculus, lisianthus<\/em> (<\/em>Eustoma grandiflorum,\u00a0annual)<\/em>, calendula<\/a>, tomatoes on the arbors, peppers, lettuces, snap peas, bush beans, cucumber and herbs. I love that they are extra tall so no bending!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"vegetables<\/a>The vegetable side of the raised bed. I grow my tomatoes on the arbor for easy harvesting.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Big<\/a>Big Ben peony<\/em> (<\/em>Paeonia<\/a> lactiflora \u2018Big Ben\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0Zones 3\u20138)<\/em> provided some bright color and contrast nicely with the cypress in another part of the garden.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"peony<\/a>On the front side of this island bed Duchesse de Nemours peony<\/em> (<\/em>Paeonia<\/a> lactiflora \u2018Duchesse de Nemours\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0Zones 3\u20138) is pretty with Sonic Bloom weigela<\/em> (<\/em>Weigela<\/a> florida \u2018Bokrasopin\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0Zones 4\u20138)<\/em> and dwarf blue spruce.<\/em><\/p>\n
