gb-headline-914f9427\">5 Easy Methods to Freeze Herbs<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>Freezing herbs is easy, economical, and it retains high levels of aroma and flavor.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gardenerspath.com\/plants\/herbs\/dry-herbs\/\">Drying, or dehydrating<\/a><\/strong>, is another popular preservation method.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, drying doesn\u2019t always hold the flavors as we\u2019d like, since a large amount of the essential oils responsible for that flavor are lost via this method.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter darken, and can be limp when thawed.<\/p>\n<p>So you won\u2019t want to use them as a garnish or in a fresh salad.<\/p>\n<p>But with their lively aroma and taste, they make a delicious addition to as flower buds start to form, but before they open.<\/p>\n<p>Pick in the late morning, after the dew has evaporated and before the intense afternoon heat sets in.<\/p>\n<p>Whichever method you use, after freezing in cubes, pans, or trays, you\u2019ll need to transfer the individual pieces to airtight containers for storage. This helps to prevent freezer burn.<\/p>\n<p>Frozen leaves are good to use in your cooking for up to 12 months \u2013 right in time for you to store another big batch at the end of next year\u2019s harvest season!<\/p>\n<p>Plus, they\u2019re easy to incorporate into your cooking. Just pop a cube or frozen leaf into a pan of hot ingredients and stir \u2013 they melt and blend in quickly.<\/p>\n<p>And unlike veggies, there\u2019s no need to blanch first. Press down lightly.<\/p>\n<p>Add water until the mixture is just covered.<\/p>\n<p>Place in the freezer until solid, then pop the cubes out of the tray and transfer to long-term storage bags or containers.<\/p>\n<p>Carefully cut sheets into quarters or other manageable sizes for storage. Label and date your storage containers.<\/p>\n<p>If your spread isn\u2019t releasing easily, you can run the bottom of the tray or pan under hot water for a couple of minutes to pop it loose.<\/p>\n<p>When needed, take individual cubes out of the freezer or break pieces from sheets.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"In-Oil-or-Butter\">3. Light, lacy leaves like tarragon can be allowed to overlap a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Place in the freezer for a few hours, then transfer to airtight storage bags or containers. Label with the contents and date.<\/p>\n<p>Remove individual sprigs as needed, and strip the leaves from the stems before use.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Rolled-Logs\">5.
